Maoist can’t stop govt from bringing budget: PM Nepal

Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that the government is going to bring in the complete budget even if the main opposition party does not agree to it.

He made this remark during a consultation with legal practitioners and experts at his official residence today in relation to the matter of rejection of the letter sent by the government to President of UCPN (Maoist) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ to attend a meeting of the Constitutional Council.

Confirming the statement by the Prime Minister, Advocate Tikaram Bhattarai, who attended the consultation, said that they recommended to the Prime Minister to not choose other option than the sitting Legislature-Parliament to bring the budget.

The legal experts on the occasion had also suggested the Prime Minister to call the meeting of the Council after informing the people through the electronic media about Maoist Chairman Prachanda’s failure to accept the letter.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister also lamented that the Constitutional bodies have remained headless for a long time due to lack of support from the main opposition party.

Chief Secretary Madhav Prasad Ghimire, the Attorney General, Law Secretary and advocates were also present at the meeting.
