Maoist behaviour anti-democratic: Leaders

Leaders of political parties have termed the behaviour of Maoists in the parliament on Friday night anti-democratic and “a strategy to seize power”.

They said the move to block the government from presenting the full of budget of this fiscal year after consensus among the three major parties and misbeahaviour with the Finance Minister was against loktantra.

Energy Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat said the Maoist behaviour was an attempt to disrupt peace process, constitution drafting and the recent talks for consensus. Such an act will push the country towards confrontation and invite chaos, he said.

“The Maoist behaviour has made a mockery of democracy,” he said, accusing the main opposition party of plotting against democracy, peace and rule of law.

CPN-UML leader Pradeep Gyawali that the Maoist action has raised questions against the agreement signed in the past and has trapped efforts made to forge political consensus. “The Maoist latest move has created doubts in constitution drafting, power sharing and other important issues,” he said.

Similarly, Co-Chairman of Rastriya Janashakti Party Dr. Prakash Chandra Lohani the act of misbehaving with the Finance Minister and tearing the budget book is condemnable. The behaviour of the main opposition party is against parliamentary system, he said.
