The Public Account Committee (PAC) of the Legislature-Parliament has directed the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) to speed up investigation into irregularity over Nepal Airline Corporation’s new place purchase deal.
A meeting of PAC today issued this direction, saying that prolonged probe process has put the plane purchase deal in uncertainty and could affect investigation process.
Earlier on Dec. 14, PAC had sought clarification from Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, saying that he tried to influence the investigation process.
In the meeting, Secretary of CIAA Bhagwati Kumar Kafle said the anti-graft body will soon publicise its report on advance money and investigation.
CIAA is investigating NAC’s deal to buy a wide-bodied and a narrow-bodied aircraft from European manufacturer Airbus. NAC has already sent Rs. 50.73 million to Airbus in advance payment.
