Kankai River sweeps away mother and son

Two persons died in Jhapa district after the Kankai River swept them away at Satasidham-8, on Sunday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Deepa Dhakal, 30, of Gauradaha-1 and her seven-year-old son Dipesh, according to the Area Police Office, Jhiljhile.

Police Inspector Meghraj Adhikari said the river might have swept them away while Deepa was crossing the river tying her son with a shawl on her back. The bodies were found around 7:30 am this morning. .

The bodies have been sent to the Mechi Zonal Hospital for post mortem.

Deepa was a staff of the Himali Boarding School at Lakhanpur-4 and Dipesh was one- grader at the school, police informed.
