Nepal Bhasa Academy Chancellor Satya Mohan Joshi has said it is the responsibility of all the Nepalese to safeguard their mother tongues.
Inaugurating the three-day World Newa Conference that kicked off in London of United Kingdom on Saturday, he said a community lives only if its language lives.
Chancellor Joshi said if we couldn’t save our language, our generations will deride us, therefore, we should make efforts to protect it from our respective behalf.
Joshi also said the Newars should have political awareness for attaining a Newa autonomous state.
The conference with the slogan ‘Let’s go to London and make our voice heard’ was organised by the World Newa Organisation and the Pasa Pucha Guthi, UK.
Participating in the conference were Newas from 12 countries including Nepal, Japan, USA, Belgium, Germany and Spain, Vice Chairman of the World Newa Sangh Subarna Bajracharya informed.
Nepal’s participant Ganesh Ram Lachhi honored Pucha Guthi Chairman Sachetan Tuladhar, Sanyukta Shrestha, Suresh Shrestha, Suresh Baidya, Rajendra Prasad Shrestha, Birendra Shrestha, Dr. Bal Gopal Shrestha, Amrita Shrestha, Bijaya Bajracharya and Daya Ratna Shakya.
Prof. Maniklal Shrestha, former minister Padma Ratna Tuladhar, Prof. Prem Shanti Tuladhar have been participating in the conference.
Nepal Bhasa Academy Chancellor Joshi handed over a dictionary of Nepal Bhasa published by the Academy to World Newa Organisation Ad-Hoc Committee Convenor Dayaratna Shakya.
