UML CC meet tackles thorny issue of PM exit

The Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting of the CPN-UML has commenced at the party headquarters in Balkhu on Tuesday to discuss the latest political developments including resignation of Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal.

The meeting is expected to take stock on the current political scenario of the nation after the extension of the Constituent Assembly (CA)’s term, party sources said.

In today’s meeting the Oli faction which was disappointed with the five point agreement is expected to exert pressure on Khanal to resign from his post while Khanal’s supporters are in favour of not letting him resign prior to finding his alternative.

The CWC meet will decide upon the future strategies and action-plan for the party and finalise the internal work-division, CWC member Yogesh Bhattarai informed.
