Executive editor Ujad Raktim of the Naya Sanchar Darsan Weekly was manhandled on Monday evening at Banepa's Chadani Chowk in Kavre.
A person named Aaite slapped the editor when he was on his way home after his duty. According to Raktim, Aaite had slapped him when he had looked back. "Two persons were screaming. I thought a brawl had started and looked back. But a person asked me if I wanted to fight with him. When I denied, he slapped me,” Raktim added.
Raktim regretted that police was showing complete apathy in arresting the miscreant. He said Aaite had misbehaved for the second time when he was talking to the police personnel about the manhandling.
"The perpetrator came back and hit me again in the presence of police personnel. He left only after police asked him to leave the incident site,” Raktim added.
Issuing a separate press release today, Kavre chapter of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists and Press Chautari Nepal Kavre Chapter demanded that person involved in the attack be punished.
Mediapersons in the district today submitted a memorandum to Kavre CDO Rudranath Basyal demanding action against the perpetrator.
